Pye experimental Iconoscope television camera

Pye experimental Iconoscope television camera
In 1946 Pye decided to go into TV transmission and built an experimental studio as a learning exercise.  This was one of the 2 cameras which used an RCA 1850A iconoscope.  When they had finished with it the equipment was put into store.  Shortly afterwards the building burnt down.

The viewfinder is interesting. In 1946 the norm was to have an optical viewfinder, but the shape of this cameras viewfinder suggests that it is an electronic viewfinder and the lever on the side suggests a moveable mirror to allow a direct view forwards?

The back of the photograph is marked "H. W. Carr"
