Shown with the removable viewfinder tilted up for maintenance, the PES Photicon in it's housing can be seen with the tube base connector at the bottom right.

 

Dan Cranefield writes 'that he started his BBC career in Studio P at Lime Grove at age 17 with these cameras and they had remote control of lens change and focus so a camera operator was not needed for fixed shots.'

The ring at the front of the camera is an arrangement fitted by "HDF" for turret change. This was because the Pye motor driven turret change was considered to be too slow and noisy.
