RCA 1939 Sync Pulse Generator

RCA 1939 Sync Pulse Generator

The complete SPG is divided into 3 units, the delay unit, the shaping unit and the pulse unit. This used a brass disk driven by a 3600RPM synchronous motor with 441 teeth to produce the twice line frequency of 26,460Hz. and a single “fin” to produce the 60Hz. field pulse. A novel way to achieve the correct relationship between line and field frequencies. The disk has to be precision cut so that the timing between each pulse and it's width is correct. For comparison the studio SPG (type 560-A) is a full height 19 inch bay of equipment, not including power supplies.
