Pye
Mk5 84 2131 Image Orthicon Television Camera
This series of photographs are of an unrestored Pye Mk5 camera, shown
with all it's scratches and corrosion. This is head serial number 131
dated to about 1960/1.
This is a fairly big camera, weighty
too. It used conventional construction techniques with plug in chassis
for each function, scans, amplifier, viewfinder, etc. At this time its
contemporary rivals from Marconi and EMI were offering slimmer and lighter
cameras using printed circuit boards.
There is a good description on the camera in "International Technical TV Review", May 1962 pages 218-224.
