Side view of yoke from a Marconi MkIII camera

A scanning yoke for the 4.5 inch Image Orthicon tube is a large and heavy object, setting the minimum size of the camera. In this design the tube is inserted from the front after the "focus flattening coil" disk is removed.

The Marconi MkIII camera was introduced in 1953.
